Terms of Use

Quadrate · Last updated 11 October 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Liam Darrington, an individual based in the United Kingdom (“Quadrate”, “we”, “us”, “our”), governing your use of the Quadrate mobile app and its services (the “Service”). They include the End User Licence Agreement (EULA) for the app. By creating an account or using Quadrate, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Quadrate has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. See sections 5 and 6.

1. Who can use Quadrate

You must be at least 18 years old to use Quadrate. By using Quadrate you confirm that you are 18 or over, that you can form a binding contract with us, and that you are not barred from doing so under any applicable law.

2. The Service

Quadrate lets you track, rate and review films, TV, books and music, build lists and watchlists, follow other people, and share your activity. Quadrate is a public, social service by default — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what is public and how to make your account or lists private. We may add, change or remove features, and we may update or discontinue the Service, trying to give reasonable notice of significant changes.

3. Your account

4. Your content and licence

5. Acceptable use — content standards (zero tolerance)

You agree not to post, upload or share content, or behave in a way, that:

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these standards, at our discretion.

6. Reporting, blocking and moderation

To keep Quadrate safe, the app provides tools to report objectionable content or users and to block abusive users (a block hides each user from the other).

If you see something that breaks these Terms, please report it in the app or email mailliamapp@gmail.com.

Complaints and appeals. If you think we got a decision wrong — we removed something of yours or restricted your account — or you want to complain about how we handled a report or about safety on Quadrate, email mailliamapp@gmail.com with “Appeal” or “Complaint” in the subject. We’ll look at it again and reply within 14 days.

7. Third-party content and data sources

Quadrate shows catalogue information (titles, descriptions, artwork, previews, availability) from third-party sources, including The Movie Database (TMDB), Apple Music, ISBNdb, Open Library, GIPHY, YouTube and (if you connect it) Plex. That content belongs to those providers or their licensors and is subject to their terms. Quadrate uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. We are not responsible for the accuracy of third-party catalogue data, and your use of any third-party service through Quadrate is also governed by that service’s own terms.

8. Our intellectual property

The Quadrate app itself — its name, design, software and original content (excluding Your Content and third-party catalogue content) — belongs to us and is protected by law. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or create derivative works from the app except as the law allows.

9. Termination

You can stop using Quadrate and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (e.g. ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) continue to apply.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that catalogue data will be accurate or complete. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, which cannot be excluded.

11. Limitation of liability

If we break these Terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious it will happen, or if we both knew it might happen when you started using Quadrate. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for business losses (such as lost profit or goodwill), or for content posted by other users. Quadrate is free, so please keep your own copy of anything important to you (Settings → Export my data). Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law. We are not responsible for the conduct of other users or for content they post.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against reasonable claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, to the extent permitted by law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Quadrate evolves. When we make a material change we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Quadrate after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction, and you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of the place you live.

15. Apple App Store — additional terms (EULA)

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. The following apply to your use of the app obtained through Apple’s App Store:

No purchases. Quadrate is free to use. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions, so nothing is ever charged to your Apple Account through the app.
